I can’t begin to describe the month that I’ve had. It’s been amazing!! I still can’t believe I won this absolutely awesome prize. I would like to say a very big THANK YOU to Tractag and Chimu Adventures for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime – to complete the Inca Trail ending in Machu Pichu! Thank you, thank you, thank you! It will be a trip I will never forget.

The photo that never got taken earns Sunshine Coast photographer her bucket list dream trip.
When Maree Machin of tracTAG decided to sponsor the Sunshine Coast Photo Shootout, awarding the prize to a photographer who sacrificed her chance to win for her daughter was the perfect outcome. When Beth Prentice and her daughter Tayla registered to enter the Photo Shootout, they had some rough ideas of the type of image that they were each after. But they hadn’t thought through the equipment. ‘Both Tayla and I had entered. We both needed tripods. I loaned her mine and I ended up not having time to create a photo to submit. I figured that I’d be a bit better prepared for next year. I didn’t expect the call that I got on Monday!’ When Beth registered for the Shootout, she also entered the tracTAG – Chimu Adventures promotion. tracTAG’s Maree Machin was the bearer of the good news. ‘It was fantastic to tell Beth that she’d won a stunning guided tour of South America’s Inca Trail. When I heard that she’d given up her chance to help her daughter, I was doubly pleased. Her reaction was just priceless!’ With over 600 images entered, the Sunshine Coast Photo Shootout was judged a great success and a guaranteed profile event for the 2017 calendar. Ben Allan, festival co-ordinator, was stoked with the event. ‘The interest from the photography community was great and the quality of the entries was stunning. The Photo Shootout is unique because everyone has to take their photo in the 24 hours of the event. It’s mad fun!’ ‘But in that tiny window of time, people captured the essence of the joy of photography and the adventures that it can take you on. That’s why tracTAG is a great fit for the festival and sponsor to have on board. Their brand in synonymous with photography – it’s all about the freedom to take it to the next level without the fear of losing gear.’ Maree says that it is a perfect outcome from an outstanding event. ‘The festival itself is a great initiative. As a sponsor, you always want to be able to contribute to the positive vibe of an event. We partnered with Chimu Adventures to create the ultimate sponsorship – look after your gear with tracTAG and win an amazing guided tour of the Inca Trail. We had a heap of fun.’ For international author Beth, it had been a whirlwind week. ‘I was still reeling from winning a bronze award in the 2016 Reader’s Favourite International Book Awards. So, to win the Inca Trail tour on top – wow! Who knows, South America might end up being the setting for my next novel!
